What is the Lac du Flambeau Governor’s Area Promotion Committee? 

This organization was established in 1990 by the Governor of Wisconsin to improve relationships between Native Americans and non-Native Americans and to enhance and promote tourism in Wisconsin’s northwoods.  The committee currently meets monthly and is comprised of twenty two individuals representing the Lac du Flambeau Band of the Lake Superior Ojibwe Indians, the northern Wisconsin counties of Vilas, Oneida and Price, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  The committee focuses on the promotion of fishingThe committee also educates the public about fishing opportunities through its web site at northwoodsfishing.com

Total Water Surface: 195,547 acres

 

World Class Musky Fishery: The largest concentration of freshwater Musky-inhabited lakes in the world is in the Wisconsin counties of Oneida, Vilas and Price and the Lac du Flambeau Indian Reservation.
