What
is the Lac du Flambeau Governor’s Area Promotion Committee?
This
organization was established in 1990 by the Governor of Wisconsin to
improve relationships between Native Americans and non-Native
Americans and to enhance and promote tourism in Wisconsin’s
northwoods. The
committee currently meets monthly and is comprised of twenty two
individuals representing the Lac du Flambeau Band of the Lake
Superior Ojibwe Indians, the northern Wisconsin counties of Vilas,
Oneida and Price, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism and the
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The committee focuses on the promotion of
fishing. The
committee also educates the public about fishing opportunities
through its web site at northwoodsfishing.com
